About the product

A field guide, not a platform

Sideline Compass is an original offline Android companion developed for The Huddle Up Foundation, Inc. It translates broad youth-sports guidance into practical, cautious conversation cards.

A parent and athlete comparing purpose cards together

Why it exists

Young athletes and the adults around them face decisions about communication, preparation, safety, participation, camps, combines, recruiting language, media, travel, and community roles. The app creates a calm structure for questions without pretending that one generic answer fits every athlete or provider.

Organization context

The product is informed by the organization’s publicly described mission of guiding and supporting parents and young athletes through the youth-sports journey. App modules are original educational content and should not be read as proof that every module is an existing organization program.

Product principles

Built around boundaries

A useful companion should make the next real-world conversation clearer while returning responsibility to appropriate adults and qualified providers.

Guardian-aware youth use

No direct messages, public profiles, followers, youth uploads, public rankings, or private adult-minor channel. Guardians remain responsible for consent and real-world decisions.

General education

The app is not medical care, emergency response, coaching certification, registration, recruiting, admission, scholarship, payment, or eligibility advice.

Private local state

Only opened content IDs and up to five pinned content IDs are stored in Android private preferences. Users can erase them at any time.

No engagement pressure

No streak, leaderboard, notification loop, score, follower count, or reward for spending more time in the app.
